My Grandpa

When my dad brought my mom home to meet the family for the first time (so the story goes) my grandpa took my dad aside and asked him 2 questions.

The first was whether or not she was Catholic.

The second was whether or not she drank beer.

Mom obviously passed.

My parents were very tolerant of alcohol while we were growing up. We were allowed sips of beer and liquor from a fairly young age. I believe that as a result, nobody in my family has a problem with alcohol. Apparently this attitude stems from something my grandpa said to my dad when he was young.

"Don't go out drinking. Bring it home so I can have some."
