They're having a hard time finding someone big shot enough to play Mr. Thompson. So far Bridges, Douglas, and Baldwin have all passed on the part. I'm not sure why; it seems like easy money and the role is juicy - a backstabbing dad out to break up his daughter's marriage. Who wouldn't want that on their resume? Douglas is the hot choice, so they've decided to go back to him with even more money. Cause that what a mega-rich mega-star who doesn't want to be in the movie needs: more money. And the supervisor in Hawaii is worried the accounting office is going to spend too much on long distance...
Maybe they should have it be Ms. Thompson instead and get Goldie to do it. That would be funny.
